IFTW was born March-9-1982 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. In 1989 he immigrated with his family to the US & landed in the City of Champions, Inglewood CA. In the early 90’s he fell in love with music, influenced by his father’s music (Classic Rock, Latin Jazz, Funk & Soul), His mother’s Music (80’s new wave & 70’s R&B) & the golden sound of Hip Hop he heard on the radio (KDAY & The Beat 92.3). In 1994 he was introduced to House music by the Baka Boyz morning Mixshows who featured DJs Erick V, Nick V & E-Man. Later that year he was introduced to Jungle, Trance & Hardcore by the Saturday late night Mixshow Powertools hosted by Richard “Humpty” Vission.
In 1995 in High School he was finally introduced to the art of the DJ by 3 classmates who were DJs. From that day he was hooked and went hunting for his own pair of turntables. In the late 90’s he made a name for himself by playing parties, clubs & even some raves all throughout Southern California. In 1999 he was introduced to the battle culture when He came across the 1991 DMC World Championship VHS. From that moment on he focused on one goal and one goal only, making it to the USA DMC Finals.
In 2005 he achieved his 1st trip to the USA DMC Finals when he won the San Francisco regional. In 2006 he went to the USA DMC Supremacy and returned to the USA DMC Finals in 2010. In 2011 with the addition of the DMC World Online Championship competition, he won the 11th round advancing him to the World Finals making him a World DMC Online Finalist. Later that year he released his 1st EP “Catch a Cold” and joined the All-Star Turntable Crew BattleStar.
In 2012 he’s focused more than ever. He’s back to rocking dance floors all throughout the West Coast with his keen musical sense & his world renowned turntable skills. He’s working on a Moombahton EP titled “Yo Soy Shigualo” which will be released later this year. This year his crew BattleStar Massive and him won the 2012 DMC USA Championship and they are working on winning a world team title. For IFTW the music will never stop.
